Census Ambassador Pilot Program
The County of San Mateo and the San Mateo Adult School (SMAS) partnered to pilot a Census Ambassador training program for volunteers who want to educate fellow residents about Census 2020 and serve as a resource in their communities. Census Ambassadors will be an important component of ensuring that census information and support reach ALL residents across the county.
From June - September 2019, we received feedback on training content, materials, and other outreach support needed from our pilot group, who are all enrolled in English as a Second Language (ESL) courses at SMAS. These learnings shaped the final materials for ambassador training, outreach, and tracking.
Many thanks to this pioneering group of Census Ambassadors!
