I believe that all humans have the right to freedom, safety and peace. Although our nation was built by immigrants, those who seek sanctuary in America today often face hardships such as poverty and prejudice. Consequently, many find themselves without adequate nutrition, shelter, employment or healthcare. In a nation of abundance this is entirely unacceptable. The San Mateo County (SMC) Human Services Agency is excited about the opportunity to enhance immigrant access to services, including those that provide food, housing, jobs and access to medical care. As a member of the steering committee I am personally honored to work with a team of others who are equally motivated to support SMC’s immigrant population.
