Redwood City – The Measure K Oversight Committee today presented a “Ten Years of Progress” report to the Board of Supervisors. The report lists accomplishments from the Measure K half-cent sales tax, first approved by voters in November 2012.
Redwood City – The County will seek $5 million in state funds to help local farmworkers become homeowners. That is the unanimous decision today by the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors. The five-member Board voted to authorize staff to apply for a $5 million grant that would fund the purchase of manufactured homes, potentially in partnership with the City of Half Moon Bay.
Redwood City – The Board of Supervisors today ended the County’s state of emergency due to COVID-19. The 5-0 vote aligns the County with the state of California.
Redwood City – A federal Disaster Recovery Center will remain open at the San Mateo County Event Center through March 14 to help residents affected by recent storms learn about available assistance. Operated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and California Office of Emergency Services, the center will operate daily at the San Mateo County Event Center from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., including weekends. Note the center will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14.
Note: This is a revised version posted at 5 p.m. Redwood City – The state has awarded $42.8 million to spur development of three local affordable housing projects, including coastal apartments reserved for farmworkers and their families. The funds will go to helping build a total of 212 units for residents with low incomes in projects in Daly City, Burlingame and Moss Beach, where 18 new apartments will be dedicated for farmworkers.
Half Moon Bay – The County of San Mateo today announced the launch of a task force that is committed to improving the living conditions of farmworkers who reside in employer-provided housing. The task force will ensure compliance with local and state rules and regulations that affect the health and safety of employer-providing housing for farmworkers and their families.
The San Mateo County Coalition for Safe Schools and Communities launched its Naloxone Toolkit in December 2022 to help prepare school staff to safely use naloxone to reverse opioid overdoses that may occur on their campuses.

Redwood City – Residents of San Mateo County’s coast impacted by the recent storms can learn about available assistance from local, state and federal agencies at three separate locations starting next week. On hand at each location will be what is known as “Mobile Registration Intake Centers” whose staff can answer questions about disaster assistance and help with registration.
North Fair Oaks — Three artists will each present their unique ideas for murals in the North Fair Oaks neighborhood at a public meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023. You can view presentations by the artists in person at the North Fair Oaks Library or via Zoom from 6 to 8 p.m.
Redwood City, CA – The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously today to invest nearly $1.5 million to help entrepreneurs launch businesses and make them grow. The funds will also help job seekers gain the skills they need to compete for in-demand careers. Programs that include how to gain access to capital will launch through the North Fair Oaks Economic Advancement Center.
