About the Project

The Project involves the roadway reconstruction of 8th Avenue from Middlefield Road to Edison Way and 16th Avenue from End to approximately 789 16th Avenue in the unincorporated North Fair Oaks Area.

Project scope also requires sanitary sewer pipe replacement, sewer manholes, and drainage infrastructure on both 8^th  and 16^th Avenue.

Construction Schedule

Note that all scheduling dates are approximate only and subject to change.  All pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular traffic access will be limited during construction and experience delays.  Abide to traffic control signage on site during construction and detour on local streets accordingly.

  • Prepared and mailed survey letters to property owners.
• January 2024

  • Virtual public meeting: January 10, 2024 (Wednesday) from 6:30-7:30PM via Zoom (Video).

  • Survey Due to County 01/26/2024, both 8th and 16th Avenue.​​​​​

  • 60% Plans and Specification.
  • Survey results calculations.
• March 2024
  • 90% Plans and Specifications.
  • Prepared survey results letters.
• April 2024 
  • Sent survey results letters to property owners.
  • Advertised for bids on April 25, 2024. 
  • Bids due by Thursday, May 9, 2024.

  • This project will be re-bid.
  • Advertised for re-bids on May 23, 2024.
  • Bids due by Thursday, June 13, 2024.
• July 2024
  • Project was awarded to Ghilotti Construction Company, Inc. by County of San Mateo Board of Supervisors on June 25, 2024.
• August 2024 – Ramping up construction and contractor mobilization. Majority of work performed will be done on 16^th Ave. Work underway will include but not be limited to survey layout, potholing, USA coordination, delivering equipment/tools to site, delivering public notification letters, posting project info/traffic control signage, SWPPP BMPs, and the installation of sewer piping. Drive slowly during construction, always abide to Traffic control signage, and expect delays. 
• September 2024 - Majority of construction work performed will be done on 16th Ave. Work underway will include but not be limited to survey layout, potholing, USA coordination, delivering equipment/tools to site, delivering public notification letters, posting project info/traffic control signage, SWPPP BMPs, and the installation of sewer piping. Drive slowly during construction, always abide to Traffic control signage, and expect delays.
• October 2024 - Contractor is working to construct concrete valley gutters on 16th Avenue.
• November 2024 – Majority of Construction scope on 16^th Ave is completed.  Work performed on 16^th Ave this month included the placement of new Asphalt road and striping.  Sewer work designated for 8^th Ave should be completed by the end of this month.  Continuation of work on 8^th Ave will be weather dependent.  Drive slowly during construction, always abide to Traffic control signage, and expect delays.
