About the Project
Park improvements that include two multi-use sports fields, basketball, tennis, and sand volleyball courts, a bicycle pump track, improved picnic facilities, walking paths, exercise stations, a tree-lined promenade and plaza, and a demonstration garden. The park will also include new play areas and an inclusive, all-abilities play feature. Restrooms will be renovated or replaced and select adobe buildings will be preserved. Parking will be increased from the current 320 to a total of 369 spaces.

April 2024 - A Notice to Proceed has been issued to Jensen Landscape Contractor, LLC on April 17, 2024.

May 2024 - Jensen Landscape Contractor, LLC is on site and has begun fencing and utility location/markup efforts. First demolition efforts are scheduled to occur on May 16, 2024.

June 2024 - The contractor has commenced the installation of tree protection measures, the removal of selected trees, clear and grub operations, hardscape demolition, and utility decommissioning.

July 2024 - The contractor is continuing clear and grub operations, hardscape demolition, and utility decommissioning activities. The contractor has also commenced utility pipe laying and the installation of new sanitary sewer manholes across Flood Park.

August 2024 - The contractor continued laying utility and irrigation pipes. The contractor has also commenced tree transplanting operations across the Park.

September 2024 - Earthwork, ground compacting and site grading, formwork, and concrete pouring activities have commenced across the Park.

October 2024 - The contractor has commenced the installation of components for a pervious pavement system in the parking lot to comply with stormwater management/discharge requirements. The contractor has also commenced the installation of components for pedestrian/vehicular asphalt sections around the Park. New picnic tables are also being installed.

November 2024 - The contractor is working to finish the construction of the multi-use sports field and sports courts.
Beginning Monday, Nov. 4, through Friday, Nov. 22, the entire park, including the pump track, will be closed. No pedestrian, car or bicycle access will be permitted to enable construction crews easy and safe movement throughout the park as the installation of facilities, planting, walking paths, and paving are all finalized. Schedule and weather permitting, the partial reopening of the park is initially scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23 with access to the pump track, small sports field, and tennis/pickleball, basketball and sand volleyball courts.
